Welcome to Julz! This production could not have been possible without the dedicated effort of everyone involved. My heartfelt thanks go to each and every one of them. Just like the products and services we provide, I wanted to surround myself with a team that shares the same passion and commitment to their profession as I do to Julz. I started my career in downtown Canton in 1976 before buying the House of Stones in downtown New Philadelphia, Ohio in 1987, a jewelry store in Tuscarawas County with a tradition that dates back to over 100 years. We created Julz by Alan Rodriguez in 2007 in downtown Canton. In 2019, I purchased a credit union on Cleveland Avenue North, renovating it to what it is today. It’s great to be back in downtown Canton and be a part of the tremendous revitalization.
As a member of the American Gem Society, you are working with knowledgeable and credentialed experts in gems and jewelry who adhere to the highest ethical and professional standards, a recognition only 5% of the jewelers, designers, and appraisers nationwide have achieved. We pride ourselves as having the most GIA credentialed staff in the region. I am a certified gemologist appraiser – which is the highest level of professional recognition. I have served as Past President of the Ohio Jewelers Association, representing over 650 jewelers in Ohio. I also served as one of sixteen Board Members of Jewelers of America, our national organization which represents over 10,000 jewelers.
What makes us different? We are contemporary in our thinking while being respectful to the traditions of our industry. We recognize the symbolism of jewelry, knowing that each piece of jewelry from Julz will serve as a lifelong reminder of the love and sentiment it expresses both for now and as an heirloom for future generations. Our staff has a passion for fine jewelry are are committed to providing the highest level of service in a genuine, friendly manner.
Alan purchased the House of Stones in New Philadelphia, Ohio in 1987. It offers everything you would want from a world class jewelry store and has been dedicated to customer service for over 150 years.
Our original Julz in downtown Canton was opened in 2007. It featured a mural of a bank vault by artist Dirk Rozich. Many of our original cases have been brought over to the new Julz.
Julz by Alan Rodriguez was recently selected as one of 22 jewelers nationwide that have earned the “America’s Best Jewelers 2010″ designation through “their high level of operational excellence, demonstrating they could maintain excellence in disciplines across the full range of jewelry retaining operations, from human resources to marketing and financial performance.” Julz by Alan Rodriguez was honored with a 2010 Business Excellence Award of Greater Canton from the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce. Award selections were made on the basis of business and employment growth, expansion of operations and efficiencies, consistent outstanding customer service, investments in capital improvements, innovation and expansion of product lines, responsiveness to business and industry challenges and adversity and consistent community involvement. Julz was named as “Best Place to Buy Bling” in the September 2010 issue of About Magazine, featuring our manager, Karen on the cover. In the December 2007 issue of INSTORE magazine, a trade magazine for the jewelry industry, Julz was highlighted in a five page layout as one of America’s Coolest Stores and most unique jewelers.
Believing in the new revitalization of downtown Canton, Julz by Alan Rodriguez has a new home in a previous credit union. The result is a “you can’t miss it” glass cube visible by everyone driving by and a sleek, modern interior.
